some bikes are built around a larger platform of ring. a crazy example of this is commencal. they are build around the epicly huge 44t!! HUGE! it all has to go with feed back from the pedals

just to top it off heres a picture of a 2002 polaris 440 that is on the same xc chass.

like i said in earlyer post on here sleds older then 2003 commonly shared the same chass/tunnel as the consumer sled (even though the race sleds had a few extra braces).
so the fact that the 440 as shown in the picture has the same of very close to tunnel as that of the 800 as shown in this add is not surprizing.

another note is that 2002 and older you didnt have to always apply for these sleds though the compants race dept. you just walked into your dealer and said get me one of these! and it happend just like that.

i cant belive how stupid some of you people are
theres a diffrence better a race sled and a consumer sled
here is the 2009 skidoo sno-X http://www.ski-doo.com/en-US/XTeam/RaceSled/ guys buy these sleds and race them. they dont "up" there shocks because THEY DONT HAVE TO. the stock ones are diesgned for the snoX application. on these snoX sleds nothing is really "upped", just clutching,gearing,and shock controls are refined to the riders preferance
for snoX is there is no mods to the tunnel (although some people fab there own braces just to insure that nothing will get to broken)
hillclimb sleds tunnels are modded to the 9's. alot of guys change the length of there tunnels but for the most part guys will go stock length.

ryda69er.. if your bud is racing snoX they will have ordered (saying your talking about the 08/09 race year, and hes on skidoo) the 2009 mxzx 600rs.
once again this is a race sled, you can not just walk in and buy it. you have to apply to the skidoo race dept

i really dont see why i cant get people to understand this idea
i would also like the list of pm's telling me im wrong to stop. this is my job, and i do it well

the diffrent between commerical and racing is close. yet far.
1. commerical use sleds lack the braces that a race sled has, race sleds are braces to the tits because they take more poundings

2. shock/spring set up. race sleds come with stiffer springs and diffrent/agressive valved shocks, as well as race shocks are commonly "piggy backed" like on out mtb's as where commerical sleds are a straight gas shock.

3. motor set up. MOST race sleds have a high compression motor. this means that higher octane fuels are used (octanes such as 105,108,110,114). you can change race sleds though to pump gas by removing the head of the motor and removing the high compression domes and installing the low compression domes in its place (other carb/eletrical adjustmen need to also be made).

4. tunnels. over the years race sleds have become more refined into true race machines. commonly most race sleds thats are older then 2003 use a commerical tunnel (this all depends on the make/modle/year of the sled)

5. numbering. on the slide of the tunnel where your sleds production number/vin number is it will say "RACING". this si the case with most sleds, for example my 440's and 600mods say it on the side (ski doo brand)

when i say racing i am refering to snoX and a snoX sleds appearance. there are other styles of race sleds such as oval sleds, hillclimb sleds, XCR sleds.
